I would love a tv show based on Hetty’s origin story. It could follow Hetty’s OG team during the Cold War. It could have a young Owen Granger, young AJ Chegwidden, Sterling Bridges, Harris Keane, and Charles Langston.
My idea is that it opens with modern Hetty telling the story before she dies, maybe tired of all the secrets. The show could focus on the Clandestine Unit.

The 306 Workshop Group in front of 306 West 141st St., late 1930s.
The 306 Workshop Group, also known as the Harlem Art Workshop, was founded by artist Charles Alston. This group served to bring together Black artists such as Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden, Augusta Savage, and Langston Hughes, just to name a few. Located at 306 West 141st Street in Harlem, the Harlem Art Workshop provided these artists with both a meeting and work space. In the 1920s, Harlem became a coveted address. The neighborhood in New York City was synonymous with an outpouring of production in the visual arts, music, literature, theater, and dance that some began referring to the creative era as the Harlem Renaissance.
Famous artists of the Harlem Renaissance included: sociologist and historian W.E.B. Du Bois, writers Claude McKay, Langton Hughes, and Zora Neale Hurston, musician Duke Ellington, and entertainer Josephine Baker. These artists strove to express their racial identity and pride.
Jacob Lawrence, an artist of the Harlem Renaissance, believed his paintings were “a portrait of myself, a portrait of my community.” The community he grew up around included artist and mentor Charles Alston and leading philosopher Alain LeRoy Locke.
The people of Harlem and their rich heritage were constant sources of inspiration for Lawrence. The community experience—its triumphs and tragedies, its dreams and disappointments, its pleasures and humility, collectively forged by the Great Migration, the Harlem Renaissance, and the Depression era—lives on in his paintings.

Hi! Would it be okay to ask for poems that radiate some kind of "red" energy? I saw your recommendations about the similar ask with blue and I really loved it, so I thought I could ask for more :)
Red and blue, twin poles of the world 💘I had to think about this one (red has a distinct vibe for me) but I think all of these feel "red" when I read them, in one form or another, if not always overtly, so I hope you enjoy them, too:
"In the Desert" by Stephen Crane
"Woman Unborn" by Anna Swir
"El Beso" by Angelina Weld Grimké
"What Do Women Want?" by Kim Addonizio
"For You" by Kim Addonizio
"I'm Explaining a Few Things" by Pablo Neruda
"Dirty Valentine" by Richard Siken
"Little Beast" by Richard Siken
"Aubade" by Miller Williams
"Green and Gold" by Rachel Hadas
"Ishtar Awakens in Chicago" by Mohja Kahf
"The Second Coming" by W.B. Yeats
"O" by Dunya Mikhail
"Center of the World" by Safiya Sinclair
"[i like my body when it is with your]" by e.e. cummings
"[your little voice]" by e.e. cummings
"Frida Kahlo to Marty McConnell" by Marty McConnell
"Complaint of Achilles' Heel" by Charles Jensen
"What a Cyborg Wants" by Franny Choi
"A Moment" by Saadi Youssef
"And After That" by Lorca
"Harlem" by Langston Hughes
"Lamenting Widow" by Ho Xuan Hong
"The Unicorn" by Angela Carter
"Dulzura" by Sandra Cisneros

THE ARTIST & HER WORK: ELIZABETH CATLETT
Elizabeth Catlett (1915-2012) lived a storied life. From a young age, she knew she wanted to be an artist, and pursued her dreams by receiving a BA in Art from Howard University in 1935.
She married Charles White (another legacy artist), and together they moved to NYC, where their circle of friends included the likes of Loïs Mailou Jones, Charles Alston, Aaron Douglas, Jacob Lawrence, and Langston Hughes.
In 1946, the pair moved to Mexico, where Catlett was a guest artist at the printmaking collective Taller de Gráfica Popular (TGP). This was a formative time in her practice, as her work became increasingly sociopolitical. She began spending time with Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, and David Siqueiros and was committed to representing strength and struggle in her work. During the Red Scare of the 1950s, her activism and work with TGP came under investigation by the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) and the U.S. embassy in Mexico. She was declared an "Undesirable Alien" and was prevented from returning to the States. By 2002, her citizenship was reinstated, and she became a celebrated artist around the world. Images:

(via Nick Cave: Charles Bukowski is the "bukkake of bad poetry" | Boing Boing)
[I am not a fan of either artist - but I have to agree with Mr. Cave here...]
Nick Cave isn't keen on transgressive poet Charles Bukowski, as evidenced by a recent exchange on the former's Website, The Red Hand Files. A fan had submitted the following comment:
"In my opinion you are one of the bonzerist geezers around, like Bukowski with a geetar. Thank you Mr. Cave."
To which Cave kindly responded:
I'm sorry, Simon, I don't like being compared to Charles Bukowski. I appreciate you were trying to be kind and make me feel good and everything but I don't like the man. This a well known fact. Now, if you had called me, say, the 'Philip Larkin of the Joanna' or the 'Stevie Smith of the Ivories' or the 'All Singing, All Dancing John Berryman' or 'Langston Hughes of the Banger', I'd be lot happier. But, I don't know, Simon, I just don't like Charles Bukowski. In my opinion, Charles Bukowski is the 'Bukkake of Bad Poetry', just blowing his junk around. I don't like him. I just don't. Not even a bit. No, not at all.
Love, Nick.

Charles Henry Alston (November 28, 1907 – April 27, 1977) was a painter, sculptor, illustrator, muralist, and teacher who lived and worked in Harlem. He was active in the Harlem Renaissance; he was the first African American supervisor for the Works Progress Administration’s Federal Art Project. He designed and painted murals at the Harlem Hospital and the Golden State Mutual Life Insurance Building. His bust of Martin Luther King Jr. became the first image of an African American displayed at the White House.
He graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School, where he was nominated for academic excellence and was the art editor of the school’s magazine, The Magpie. He was a member of the Arista, National Honor Society and studied drawing and anatomy at the Saturday school of the National Academy of Art. In high school, he was given his first oil paints and learned about his aunt Bessye Bearden’s art salons, which stars like Duke Ellington and Langston Hughes attended. He attended Columbia University, turning down a scholarship to the Yale School of Fine Arts.
He entered the pre-architectural program but lost interest after realizing what difficulties many African American architects had in the field. After taking classes in pre-med, he decided that math, physics, and chemistry “was not just my bag”, and he entered the fine arts program. During his time at Columbia, he joined Alpha Phi Alpha, worked on the university’s Columbia Daily Spectator, and drew cartoons for the school’s magazine Jester. He explored Harlem restaurants and clubs, where his love for jazz and Black music would be fostered. He received a fellowship to study at Teachers College, where he obtained his MA. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #alphaphialpha

Charles Erskine Scott Wood, Untitled (On the Snake River), 1906, oil on canvas, 25"x30"
C.E.S. Wood may have been the most influential cultural figure in Portland in the forty years surrounding the turn of the twentieth century. He helped found the Portland Art Museum and was instrumental in making the Multnomah County Library a free and public institution. He secured the services of his friend Olin Warner, a nationally known sculptor, to design the Skidmore Fountain, and his words "Good citizens are the riches of a city" are inscribed at its base. The Portland Rose Festival was his idea. He numbered among his friends Mark Twain, Emma Goldman, John Reed, Clarence Darrow, Lincoln Steffens, Ansel Adams, John Steinbeck, Charlie Chaplin, James J. Hill, and Langston Hughes. Soldier, lawyer, poet, painter, raconteur, bon vivant, politician, free spirit, and Renaissance man, Wood might also be the most interesting man in Oregon history.
